So, how did I get here? I have my BA from Hanover College in Hanover, Indiana. As a German major and Art and Philosophy minor, I headed to Chicago after graduation and began a 12-year journey into the corporate world. Working for Fortune 500 companies gave me insight into how large organizations work. I took with me many valuable lessons, met some very cool people, but wanted to explore another way of making a living.
Transitioning out of the corporate world in 2008, I began working at a local consignment shop where I fell in love with retail resale. Meeting several different personalities – in the clothes and the people! – offered a continuously stimulating environment. I eventually approached the owner about creating a MySpace profile to promote the business. Being an entrepreneur and not afraid to try new things to market her business, she agreed. Facebook eventually supplanted MySpace, and we integrated other social media platforms. Then I started doing her email marketing. Then I implemented her brand-new WordPress e-commerce website. Other business owners asked who did her marketing, so I was referred to other consignment stores in the Portland area. I think the love for antiques, resale, and second-hand treasure hunts is genetic: my Grandfather was an auctioneer, realtor, and appraiser. These days, I am no stranger to reselling in online marketplaces.
Working closely with small business owners and non-profits in different industries has provided me with the opportunity to learn so much about how small organizations operate. It is vital having someone take care of your marketing and online needs. It relieves a great amount of time, allowing you to do what you really want to do. It saves you from burning out. Read some of my testimonials.
I have called Portland, Oregon, “home” since 1999. In February 2012, I received my Certificate in Digital Marketing Strategies from Portland State University and completed the Search Engine Marketing module at PSU in March 2015. I am a current member of SEMPDX. My other interests include photography, travel, butterscotch pie, designing jewelry, voice over acting, and anything else I have time left over to explore. Oh and I speak fluent German.
